Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s 75th annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon. The 2015 event is scheduled on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge, Illinois. The Illinois Fire Sprinkler Coalition is a presenting sponsor of the event. IFSA Fire Prevention Week Luncheon 1The Fire Prevention Week Luncheon includes a guest speaker, lunch, and networking opportunities. It also highlights and honors those who have gone above and beyond in fire safety and burn prevention, as each year the IFSA receives nominations and presents awards for the categories of Corporate Responsibility, Get Fired Up, Life Safety, Special Recognition, and the Wayne Luecht Memorial Award. This year’s guest speaker is Dave Schury – a husband of twenty-five years, a father to two daughters, and a retired thirty-eight-year employee of ComEd. On April 13, 2000, an electrical explosion inflicted burns to 30 percent of his body. As severe as it was, the accident could have been much worse had Dave not been wearing his personal protective equipment. The events of that day dramatically changed the life of both Dave and his family. Since recovering from the accident, Dave has dedicated his time, effort, and passion to safety and prevention. He also donates his time by volunteering one week every June as a counselor for Camp “I Am Me.” Additionally, Dave has supported burn survivors of all ages at the burn center at Loyola University Medical Center, has received a Jefferson Award for outstanding volunteer work, and established the From Tragedy to Triumph Foundation, which has raised and donated over $120,000 in college scholarships to young burn survivors in Illinois. Dave’s presentation will convey the importance of  behaviors, responsibilities, expectations, and most of all, safety in the workplace. Download the Fire Prevention Week Luncheon Registration Form.]]>
