Wolding was a strong proponent for fire sprinklers during his tenure. In May 2010, Wolding and Fire Chief Hal Carson successfully drove the efforts to pass a residential fire sprinkler ordinance, which requires fire sprinklers in all one- and two-family homes that are 5,000 square feet or greater. Bob Morris, executive director of the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association (IFIA), and Tom Lia, executive director of the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board (NIFSAB), were at the Aurora fire station to congratulate Wolding on his final day. They presented him with a 9/11 commemorative flag for his dedication to Aurora. “Marty betters whomever he comes in contact with and is honest and straightforward,” says Lia. “He holds the honorable title of an old guard fire inspector who looked out for the people and firefighters of Aurora in his everyday work.”]]>
